Hempsons’ free trustee training webinars 2026

Our annual Trustee Training Programme returns in September and October 2026. Delivered in partnership with our long‑standing collaborators Haysmac, specialist charity accountants.

The webinars can be attended either as a complete programme or individually.

The programme has been designed for charity trustees and chief executives and is suitable for those who are new to their role, as well as more experienced professionals seeking a refresher. Our aim is to provide practical, actionable guidance to help strengthen governance and support effective decision‑making.

Please note that, due to the high demand for our free webinars, organisations may only book three places on any one webinar.

Webinar one – Legal duties and responsibilities of charity trustees

An overview of trustees’ legal duties and responsibilities, including managing conflicts of interest. We will also explore trustees’ accountability for their organisations, covering virtual, hybrid and face‑to‑face meetings.

Webinar two – Improving governance at board and senior management level

This session looks at how to make governance more effective at board and senior management level, including board effectiveness, the relationship between the board and the chief executive, efficient delegation, and how to approach difficult decisions.

Webinar three – Trustees’ responsibilities for financial governance
Date: Thursday, 8 Oct 2026
Time: 10:30-11:30

A practical session on trustees’ responsibilities for both internal and external financial reporting. We will examine key areas such as different types of funds, how they can be spent, and how reserves policy should link to organisational strategy.
