Nick brings to Hempsons a business perspective unique to a firm of solicitors. Through his many years of experience he has an unparalleled knowledge of solicitors and the bar. He also has a great deal of knowledge of how the industry works in all aspects.

Nick spent 40 years as a barristers’ clerk, 30 of which were as the senior clerk of Serjeants’ Inn Chambers (formerly 3 Serjeants’ Inn), a high profile set handling professional indemnity and regulatory matters across the spectrum.

He served on the Bar Council remuneration committee for 24 years and at the time of retirement was the longest serving member. Nick has also held positions on the Bar Council’s fees collection committee, Legal Aid committee, IT committee and CFA committee, amongst others, and is a former member of the management committee of the Institute of Barristers’ Clerks.

Nick has great experience of all matters concerning legal fees, both from the solicitors’ and barristers’ perspectives. He also has experience of the insurance market having worked for a time for a private medical indemnity organisation.
