Newsflash: The HSJ and Hempsons webinar on the Fit and Proper Person Test

The Fit and Proper Person Test is meant to ensure that anyone at director level in the NHS has the attributes and values needed for the job. But since it was introduced, it has faced criticism. A recent review led by Tom Kark QC looked at how it is working out in practice and made recommendations for changes – some of which the government has accepted.

This webinar, broadcast on 12 June 2019, looked at how the FPPT is working out in practice and asked whether the Kark recommendations will improve this. During the discussion it became clear that the Fit and Proper Persons test is already a challenging obligation upon NHS providers and the Kark recommendations, if implemented in full, will make it even more challenging for trusts to comply.
