Data (Use and Access) Bill 2025 Passed by Parliament

Further to our article Overview of the Data (Use and Access) Bill 2024-25. The Data (Use and Access) Bill 2025 has been successfully passed through Parliament as of 11 June 2025. Following agreement on the final text by both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, the Bill received Royal Assent on 19 June 2025, officially becoming an Act of Parliament.

During the final discussions in the House of Lords, no further amendments were made to the healthcare-related provisions of the Bill, specifically Schedule 15 and Section 121. The UK Parliament has published a copy of the Act, which can be found at Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 publications – Parliamentary Bills – UK Parliament. However, no date has yet been announced for when these particular provisions will come into force.

We will publish a further news flash update as soon as we are aware that a commencement date has been released in relation to Schedule 15 and Section 121 and intend to keep you informed should there be any commentary or announcements regarding the potential introduction of regulations connected to these provisions.
