Our 70+ strong team of lawyers advise NHS Resolution, NHS Trusts and medical defence organisations on wide ranging and important issues providing intelligent and novel solutions and have been described as ‘second to none’ by Chambers and Partners.
We are looking for an enthusiastic healthcare litigation lawyer NQ-4 PQE level with strong clinical negligence experience to join our Healthcare Litigation team and work alongside them on the extensive range of services we provide.
The role
This role will provide you with the opportunity to join one of the country’s leading healthcare law firms.
The team are looking for an experienced healthcare litigation lawyer, who will undertake a wide variety of healthcare litigation work for the NHS and other public and private healthcare providers. There may also be an opportunity to undertake client secondments.
Key Responsibilities
Duties to include but not limited to:
- Pre-action investigation and drafting
- Drafting of reports and advice to clients in and out of litigation
- Preparation and attendance of trials and mediations;
- Interviewing witnesses and drafting of statements
- Cost management;
- Multi-party litigation;
- ADR/mediation and attendance at settlement meetings;
- Negotiation of settlement;
- Preparation and attendance at Court hearings including CCMCs and application hearings
- Client training and support activities including; presentations, seminars and webinars
- Business development activities (appropriate to role)
Skills & Competencies:
- Previous healthcare litigation experience, ideally from another panel firm or medical defence insurer or indemnifier or if you are newly qualified, to have completed a seat in clinical negligence.
- Familiar with issues relevant to our clients within the healthcare sector
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Able to uphold strong confidentiality and ensure compliance with client requirements
- Able to work to tight deadlines and targets
- Flexible and willing to take on a varied workload
- Able to work as part of a wider team
