The Hempsons way

Our trainees will have the opportunity to work with experienced and highly regarded lawyers in our sectors.

You will undertake three or four seats over two years which will allow you to gain the knowledge and understanding of the work carried out by our specialist teams, including;

From day one of your training contract with Hempsons, you will have a high degree of responsibility whilst receiving support from across the firm.

You will be working on client matters, attending client meetings, drafting, project-planning, and attending court.

Our Training Principal, Crispin Pettifer, alongside our Talent Acquisition team, will ensure that your training contract journey is a positive experience from start to finish.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits. For year one as a trainee solicitor, you will receive a salary of £29,000 (£37,000 London), which will increase after 12 months to £31,000 (£39,000 London). As a Hempsons employee, you will also be entitled to our staff benefits including:

What are we looking for?

Hempsons welcomes applications for training contracts from suitably qualified candidates from any background, including mature candidates.

You will be bright, flexible and open-minded, and want to work in a challenging, rewarding and friendly environment. We want you to enjoy your time with us and remain with the firm on qualification.

In terms of academics, we look for good A-levels (or equivalent qualifications), a strong undergraduate law degree or non-law degree (with GDL) Either expected or obtained and you must have completed the LPC.

We would particularly like to hear from candidates who are already qualified in a medical discipline or who have experience of healthcare or third sector environments.
