Michael is a partner in Hempsons’ corporate commercial team and a commercial contracts solicitor specialising in advising organisations delivering public services.
He works closely with NHS Trusts, charities and third sector organisations on digital programmes and the commercial contracts that underpin them, including major IT procurement and Electronic Patient Record (EPR) projects.
Michael supports clients throughout the full lifecycle of commercial contracts — from early-stage strategy and contract set-up, through supplier negotiation and contract formation, to ongoing contract management and performance. He focuses on helping clients design and manage contracts so they work in practice, particularly in complex digital and service delivery environments.
Michael has significant experience advising NHS Trusts on complex digital transformation programmes, with a particular focus on EPR systems and IT supplier contracts. He also advises charities and third sector organisations on a wide range of commercial arrangements with suppliers and partners, including addressing issues arising during delivery, performance, and contractual change.
