Ayesha Zeria

Ayesha is a solicitor in the healthcare litigation team, with extensive experience defending a broad range of employers’ liability, public liability and clinical negligence claims.

She regularly acts on behalf of NHS clients in cases involving accidents and injuries at work, delays in diagnosis, orthopaedic injuries and psychiatric injury claims. Recognised for her commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for her clients, Ayesha consistently goes the extra mile and adopts a pragmatic approach, seeking to resolve matters at an early stage whenever possible.

Prior to joining Hempsons in 2022, Ayesha completed a work placement with the civil litigation department at Lancashire County Council, focusing on general and highway litigation matters. She subsequently trained at a top-tier national claimant firm, specialising in clinical negligence. She then worked in-house as an advocate at a leading defendant insurance firm, where she provided advisory work and regularly attended court to present cases at hearings in a variety of personal injury matters, including road traffic accidents.

In recent years, Ayesha has been involved in a number of cases including:

  • Successfully defending a £700,000 employers’ liability case brought by a former employee following a work-related spinal injury. The claim was dismissed at trial on both breach of duty and causation.
  • Defending a public liability claim advanced by a litigant in person, in which the court awarded the defendant’s costs to the Trust at an interim hearing and the matter concluded within 28 days of receiving instructions.
  • Representing a Trust in a public liability claim alleging discrimination brought by a litigant in person; the claim was struck out at a preliminary hearing with no order as to costs.
  • Defending an employers’ liability claim at trial, which resulted in the dismissal of the claim and associated costs due to weakness in the claimant’s causation evidence.
