Gillian Muir

Gillian is a leading healthcare expert with extensive experience of healthcare litigation. She has over 25 years of experience in clinical negligence claims. She worked for claimants for over 17 years before moving to do defendant work nine years ago.

Gillian deals with many high value brain injury cases, often involving injuries sustained at or around the time of birth.

She is very experienced in mediations which will often result in early settlements with substantial costs savings for all parties.

Gillian regularly appears in the coroner’s court representing NHS trusts and medical professionals. Recently she has advised on several cases involving deaths of women shortly after they gave birth.

Gillian supports trusts in undertaking investigations and in improving patient safety. This can involve a review of historical claims and producing bespoke training where required. She also regularly provides training in all aspects of litigation and the inquest process.

More about Gillian

I am mother to two teenagers, both of whom are keen and rather good competitive swimmers. I therefore spend a lot of time volunteering at the club and helping out at galas to ensure swimmers are in the right place at the right time for their races. Herding cats would be easier! When not on poolside I can be found walking and looking after my needy cocker spaniel, Barney.
