New Care Models and STPs Roundup for GPs
Hempsons is pleased to bring you the first in its series of news updates on new care models, STPs and integration.
NHS England have published this document as part of the draft MCP contract, outlined below.
This document describes the benefits the multispecialty community provider (MCP) model can offer GPs and gives clarity and detail on common technical questions. It is designed to support GPs as they consider what participating in an organisation that takes on an MCP Contract might mean for them (whether as an employee, sub-contractor or (part) owner).
The document is part of a package of documents which support a working draft of the MCP Contract. GPs should read this document in conjunction with this package (link below).
In July 2016 NHS England published the multispecialty community provider (MCP) emerging care model and contract framework. As well as describing the MCP care model in more detail, it introduced the emerging contract and business model that underpin it.
A draft version of this MCP Contract has now been published, together with a set of supporting documents that provide additional information and NHS England are inviting feedback on these. Although the documents concern the MCP model, many of the principles are transferable to other new models of care.
The draft MCP Contract is the product of intensive joint work with a number of vanguards with whom NHS England are co-developing the approach to ensure that the Contract will help facilitate local plans.
The Department of Health is consulting on changes to the NHS Pension Scheme rules to support the development of NHS England’s new models of care as described in the Five Year Forward View.
The consultation document describes these changes and presents the draft statutory instrument, which also includes a set of technical corrections and clarifications to further improve the operation of the Pension Scheme rules.
The consultation closes on 26 January 2017 at 11.45pm.
