Lord Carter report: Energy cost savings

The final report from Lord Carter of Coles focusing on operational productivity and performance in English NHS acute hospitals (available here) has, among other things, highlighted:

…a significant opportunity for trusts to achieve cost efficiencies by reducing their energy consumption.

It identifies that “savings could increase to as much as £125m if trusts were able to invest in energy saving schemes such as LED lighting, combined heat and power units, and smart energy management systems” and recommends “working in partnership with Salix…and other partners, to help trusts deliver the opportunities for reduced energy consumption…”
