GP Cleared of Sexual Assault of Patients

Surjit Dubb and Stephen Hooper successfully defended a General Practitioner who was charged with 15 counts of sexual assault.  The allegations related to complaints from 6 female patients who claimed that the doctor had performed improper, sexually-motivated examinations, including vaginal and rectal examinations.  The doctor’s defence case was largely based on the assertion that the examinations described were clinically justified.  The jury took just two hours to reach not guilty verdicts on all 15 counts.  The case was reported by the BBC –
