Quilter Cheviot and Hempsons are delighted to invite you to attend our charity round table discussions on the essential guide to being a trustee. We will be providing a practical guide to best practice and to encourage lively debate and sharing of experience, we have split this into two sessions:

Part 1 Governance and changing regulatory landscape – took place in May

We explored:

  • Trustees role and responsibility
  • Role of the Charity Commission and changing regulatory environment
  • Legal structures used by charities
  • Governance, best practice and role of the board
  • Relationship between trustees, senior management and staff

Part 2 Effective financial management – June

We will explore:

  • Financial oversight and best practice
  • Duties and responsibilities of trustee
  • Reserves, cash management and the importance of an investment policy
  • Effective decision making and monitoring impact
  • Internal controls procedures
