Transforming Community Services (TCS) continues to shape the delivery of out of hospital care.  PCTs need to think ahead with service providers and plan how they can implement available options for integrated care to provide the best service to local communities.

The White Paper Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS and the Operating Framework for the NHS in England 2010/11 set out the future direction and next steps for TCS. The separation of PCT commissioning from the provision of services must be implemented by April 2011, or substantial progress made towards implementation, even if this means transferring services to other organisations while sustainable medium-term arrangements are identified and secured.
