Hempsons named Legal Advisor of the Year at the HealthInvestor Awards
Hempsons has been named Legal Advisor of The Year at the HealthInvestor Awards, in the Public Transaction category for our work for the NHS Trust Development Authority on the dissolution of South London Healthcare NHS Trust. The awards dinner took place in London last night with over 1,300 guests in attendance, with Hempsons winning the award. The firm hosted two tables at the awards with a range of the firm’s public and private sector clients attending from across the UK.
Hempsons took the lead advisory role on the dissolution of South London Healthcare NHS Trust under the first Trust Special Administration – the most significant transaction in the public healthcare sector in 2013. The multidisciplinary Hempsons team delivered the project safely by the Secretary of State’s deadline of 1 October 2013, involving complex negotiations with four organisations taking on the services, PFI contractors, commissioners and regulators working together in the new NHS system for the first time. All against the backdrop of a highly politicised public debate about the Secretary of State’s decision.
The Hempsons project team was led by Christian Dingwall and Jamie Foster, both Partners at the firm. Christian, who collected the award on the evening, said: “The transaction was very complex with a great number of obstacles to overcome. Input came from every corner of Hempsons from regulatory to real estate so this really is an endorsement of our whole team. We are delighted to have won this award as recognition of our expertise and the results we achieve day in, day out, for our clients.”
Congratulations to those who won an award on the evening and to those who were finalists.
