The firm is committed to eliminating discrimination and promoting equality and diversity in its own policies and procedures. This applies to the firm's dealings with employees, partners, clients and other third parties.
Hempsons have adopted the Law Society’s guidelines on Anti Discrimination Measures and are committed to extending the principles of that policy to those who fall within the scope of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
The firm is committed to ensuring that candidates for employment and all members of staff are treated fairly, with dignity and with respect and are afforded equality of opportunity with regard to employment, training and development, regardless of gender, ethnic origin, religion, marital status, age, sexual orientation or disability (as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act 1995). All candidates for employment with the firm are given an optional Equal Opportunities monitoring form at interview and new recruits are given copy of the Equal Opportunities policy and compulsory Equality & diversity training within their first 3 months of employment.
The Partners stress the need to treat all members of the firm with dignity and with respect, and emphasise that this precludes bullying of any description. The firm has a grievance policy to deal with any member of staff who feels that he/she may have been directly or indirectly discriminated against.
The firm also has a Diversity Charter group that meet regularly to review develop the firm’s policies and procedures in the area of Equality & Diversity.
